Programmes and Courses at the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

The Academic Department and the Vocational Education Department are the cornerstone units of NIOS, driving the creation of educational programs and courses tailored to learners’ diverse needs. These departments work in tandem to design practical, demand-driven courses that empower learners to pursue their preferred educational paths.

The Academic Department oversees academic programs spanning the full spectrum of school education, from primary to pre-degree levels. Its responsibilities include crafting curricula, developing self-learning materials, updating educational resources, conducting research, and supporting learner assessments.
